While the usage of cosmetics was earlier restricted to talcum powders and soaps, today people use shampoo, lotion, perfumes, beauty products and more. This has increased the demand for FMCG products which is in turn leading to the growth in the production of aroma chemicals.

Since the genesis of Aquila Organics
“The journey has been hectic but gratifying,” says Girish. The company started its first full year operations in 2012 when it set up a greenfield project at Wada, around 80 km north of Mumbai. At that time, its contractor, who is also a Vastu expert, had predicted that there would always be some or other expansion going on every year. His words were prophetic. “We have been growing by 30-50 percent each year since the last 9 years and are close to achieving 100 crores,” he adds.
Aquila Organics started off with the target of being a global player and hence its systems are world-class. Since the initial days, the team knew that price would be a major consideration at the global stage and hence have kept its operations ‘lean’. For the last 2 years, the company has started focusing on exports and has its own marketing office in an EU country. With an eye on the future, Aquila Organics has consistently focused on innovation and identifying customer needs even before they are expressed. And hence our tagline “ideas Unlimited” adds Girish.

The Aroma chemicals manufactured by the company fall into two main categories including Styrene Oxide derivatives which is one of the largest groups of products used in the fragrance and flavour industry, and Aldehyde C-16, a fragrance and flavour chemical with a strawberry note. We are now coming out with some high impact molecules and also starting a range of flavour chemicals. The company manufactures a number of fragrances for all product categories from bakhoor, agarbatti, lotions to perfumes and deos. These range from low-cost high volume products to very high-cost products, priced at over Rs 25000/kg.
Currently, the team at Aquila Organics is working on manufacturing some high impact molecules and also starting a range of flavour chemicals. The company is also building a new state of the art plant at Lote-Parshuram MIDC near Chiplun, with the goal of being the global leader in certain aroma chemicals. According to Girish, the company is constantly working on exporting its products globally and hopes to increase its footprints across different countries and wishes to maintain a double-digit growth in the next three to five years.
