The air we breathe greatly affects our quality of life, with vehicular emissions being a major contributor to bad air quality in India. Nitrogen dioxide and nitric oxide, referred to as oxides of nitrogen (NOx), can lead to adverse health effects such as smog, acid rain, fine particles, and ground-level ozone. While India is not ready to pledge towards a zero-emission goal, there is a need to act now with practical solutions to cut down on harmful air components. Sustainability should be about sustaining the entire web of life, as our actions today will determine the future of all life on earth.
The Ahuja Global Corporation (AGC) works towards a vision of making a better environment for humankind. To reduce harmful pollutants from vehicle exhausts and protect the environment, exhaust emissions regulations around the world have been strengthened, including the Bharat Stage VI (Euro 6) directive in India.
Ahuja Global Corporation has partnered with Blue Basic S.r.l. to bring AdBlue technology to India, which converts harmful NOx emissions from diesel vehicle exhausts into harmless nitrogen and steam, thereby significantly reducing atmospheric pollution and smog in urban areas. “Our regulations aim to reduce emissions of NOx, CO, hydrocarbons, and particulate matter (PM), which is soot from diesel cars. These regulations have been in place for decades and began with the Clean Air Act”, speaks Sunil Ahuja, Chairman.
Meeting Global Standards of AdBlue
AGC possesses a global VDA license under BLUEBASIC srl Italy with full audit responsibilities and capabilities. This implies that AGC can not only legally sub-license worldwide of its VDA-approved status but can also audit for VDA compliance in any AdBlue production facility, including that operated by third parties. In this capacity, AGC ensures that every facility it operates is fully VDA compliant as per its audit requirement over regular periods.
AGC has installed & Commissioned many AdBlue plants along with Bluebasic srl Italy & AMA sPa Italy, a well-established equipment maker that produces and maintains highly acclaimed design and quality machines for over 20 years in Europe. Specific to AdBlue machines, AGC has all the main AdBlue systems, Bulk Stations, Trolleys, and other accessories. All the equipment that AGC supplies are produced in-house in AGC plants in India & Italy and maintained by the same worldwide with 24-hour service support. Besides, AGC has the world’s best Technology to Manufacture DEF up to VDA standards, as per ISO22241.
ISO22241 specifies the quality characteristics of the NOx-reducing agent AUS32 (Aqueous Urea Solution) which is needed to operate SCR converters. SCR converters i.e. Selective Catalytic Converter are used in motor vehicles with diesel engines to control NOx emissions.
Large-Scale Quality Production
AGC commissions the Batch 10 Plant, which is a containerized machine designed to produce AUS 32 AdBlue/DEF meeting the highest standards of ISO 22241 required by customers. Made in Italy, Batch 10 has CE Certification & produces AdBlue as per VDA specifications.
The production procedure of the Batch 10 plant consists of two independent stages, the demineralization stage, and the AdBlue production stage. In the demineralization stage, the plant is conceived to deliver 4-6m3/h of permeate stream with an electrical conductivity ≤5 μS/cm. While at the AdBlue production stage, AdBlue is produced by mixing under specific conditions demineralized water with urea.
The quality of the urea solution used for the technology is in compliance with the ISO 22241 series which provides the specification for quality characteristics for handling, transportation, and storage. Production per Cycle of 50 Minutes is 5500 Litres.
The BATCH 10 machine is equipped with 140 checks and alarms to ensure continuous monitoring and working efficiency of the machine and also to help with hassle-free troubleshooting of the machine. This special feature of the machine helps remote monitoring of the machine and keeps a check on the quality of AdBlue under production from raw water to DM stage to finish.
AGC has done Five Projects for Indian Oil Corporation. The plants for IOC have been set up with a production capacity of 150 KL AdBlue per day. AGC is currently commissioning many AdBlue/DEF Plants for Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited at different Locations in India. These plants have a production capacity of 200 KL per day. AGC is equipped to set up entire Large scale Production units with AdBlue/DEF Production Plants, Demineralized Water Plants, Water Treatment Plants, Waste Water, Treatments Plants, Evaporators, Filtration Plants & Storage Tanks.
Along with VDA Licensing & Audit Procedures, AGC also facilitates AdBlue/DEF Technology Transfer Laboratory setup, Training on all fronts, and Entire Plant Layout & setup. Ahuja Global also supplies AdBlue Dispensing Units, Bulk Trolleys, and IBC & DEF Tankers. AGC's AdBlue Dispensing Unit has an inbuilt Cooling & Heating unit for various Climatic Conditions, to maintain AdBlue/DEF between 15°C and 28°C. The innovative closed system prevents vapor and smell from leaking out and protects AdBlue from any external pollutants. Speedy Car is made up of a robust trolley on which the AdBlue drum is installed. With the push of a button, the electric pump refills the tank.

Building More AdBlue Plants is the Need of the Hour
With India having adopted Bharat Stage 6 (Euro-6) from April 2020, AdBlue/DEF/AUS32/AUS40 is a crucial addition required by all BS-6 Diesel Engine Vehicles, Generators, Trains & Ships. Clearly, for India to take steady steps towards cleaning its air, it is required that we step up our DEF Manufacturing Facilities to meet the Growing demand for AdBlue/DEF. Ahuja Global Corporation is the torch bearer for this definite requisite and the firm intends to meet the demands with stellar numbers.
