Packaging products like bottles, jars, and containers are highlighted by their ability to preserve a product and trigger a sale. The common challenges packaging products manufacturers face revolves around the sustainability, strength, design, and cost of these products. Fortunately, the current advancements in material science enable manufacturers to overcome these challenges. Consequently, the new product designs aim to minimize waste, reduce cost, and maintain the freshness and condition of the goods. A pioneer in this landscape is Winley Polymers.
Reputedly known as ‘Pridepet’, Winley Polymers Pvt. Ltd is a leading manufacturer and exporter of top-notch PET preforms/caps and closures/blown bottles. The company manufactures its PET preforms and caps and closures out of its state-of-the-art, ISO 9001:2008, quality-certified facility located in Jalgaon, Maharashtra. The company also has a manufacturing facility in Ethiopia.
How it all Started!
Before entering the current field of manufacturing business, Pramod Sancheti, founder and CEO of Winley Polymers, began his career as a soft drink manufacturer in 1984. He later became a manufacturer of different types of plastic molded components for automobiles and luggage brands in the mid- 80s and 90s. After a decade in this
business, Sancheti was forced to come up with a different type of plastic material due to the surge of cheap Chinese products which threaten the existing brands in India.
As a result, Sancheti joined a leading player in the market for the production of packaging products. But, the zest to create something of his own with good potential remained in him. Thus, in 1998, Winley Polymers was incepted. What started out with just one machine has now matured into an establishment with a production capacity of 250-300 PET metric tons of preforms and 10 millions of bottles per month.
The company caters to a variety of industries such as mineral water, soft drinks, edible oil, confectionary, liquor, dairy products, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical. Interestingly, the production for these industries goes as per their seasonal demands. For instance, if soft drinks are up in sales for a specific month, the very next month might be for mineral water and edible oil.
Road to Success
Winley Polymers' growth to success was gradual and humble. Sancheti who comes from an MBA (Finance) background started the company with whatever experience and knowledge he had about this line of business. Eventually, technical experts were added to the team. Today, after two decades in this space, Winley Polymers owns a team of technically competent and enthusiastic engineers whom they consider to be the backbone of the company.
Moreover, Sancheti is now joined by his son, Poras Sancheti who comes with a Bachelor’s of Engineering Degree in Mechanical and Master’s of Engineering Degree in Tool Design and Engineering and also joined by his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Ankita Poras Sancheti who is Chartered Accountant and MBA by profession. His son’s design expertise along with the commercial support has helped him to launch new products like PET cans, Cosmetic Bottles and other products which received positive responses, especially in the packaging of high-value products. Introduction of Next Generation is taking Winley’s legacy ahead and achieving newer heights.
With almost 40 years of experience in this business, Sancheti shares his success mantra. “I always take assistance from technical experts and most importantly, I keep good relations with my staff and my management”, he says. He testifies how it helped him in getting maximum technical assistance and retaining most of his staff over the course of 20 years.
Furthermore, Sancheti affirms the expansion plans that are already in motion. He intends to increase the current production capacity of 250-350 tons per month to 400-500 tons in the next six months and also envisions tripling the production in the blown bottle segment. He concludes by stating that the current expansion plans are concentered only in the same area as the existing plant.
