This story is about a Russian immigrant and the proceeds of a pawned wedding ring that laid the foundation of a sustainable cooling solution powerhouse. John Engalitcheff Jr. immigrated to Baltimore from Russia around 1924. The Engalitcheffs sold almost everything they owned to send him to Johns Hopkins University to pursue his degree in engineering. Upon graduation in 1930, John was hired at a local refrigeration company.
