Construction chemicals are pivotal for sustainable infrastructure in the construction Industry. Some of the important building materials that have been used in the construction of buildings and infrastructures since the beginning of the 20th century are the cement concrete and cement mortar based ordinary Portland due to the ease, speed, and strength offered by the materials. However, the ordinary Portland cement possessed initial drawbacks that include shrinkage cracks and leakages. Therefore, this product required some modifications to get over its inherent weaknesses, which were achieved by the use of some chemicals. Owing to the surge in demand for bigger, higher, and stronger structures in disparate environmental conditions, the ordinary concrete required further modifications in order to perform according to the expectations and deliver the end strengths in the varying climatic and critical conditions.
