Waaree Energies Limited. India's solar panel manufacturer has revealed a significant increase in its production capacity accompanied by important leadership shifts.
The company announced in its filing that it plans to launch a 5.4 GW solar cell production plant in Chikhli, Navsari, Gujarat, on March 29, 2025. This cutting-edge facility is in line with India's Production Linked Incentive (PLI) program, which encourages local solar production to lessen reliance on imports. Through the expansion of its cell production, Waaree seeks to enhance India’s solar supply chain, promoting increased self-reliance in solar technology and aiding the country’s bold renewable energy goals.
Additionally, at its Board meeting, Waaree approved additional expansion plans aimed at enhancing its manufacturing capacity both domestically and internationally. In India, the firm will increase its module manufacturing capacity by 3.2 GW at its current site in Chikhli, Gujarat. This expansion will elevate Waaree's overall module production capability to more than 15 GW, strengthening its position in India's solar manufacturing industry and aiding the country's objective of reaching 500 GW of non-fossil capacity by 2030.
Waaree’s recent initiatives aim to enhance its global competitiveness while aiding India’s renewable energy objectives. The growth in Gujarat boosts India's solar independence, while the US facility strengthens its position in a key global market.
