Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for Electronics and IT said on Saturday that electric mobility remains a prime focus area for the Union government. He was speaking after laying the foundation stone for four manufacturing units at the Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) in Divitipally of Mahbubnagar district. These include: Giga Factory-1 of the Amara Raja group, a critical minerals refining and battery recycling unit of Lohum, cell casing manufacturing facility of Scell Energy, and Altmin's first LFP-CAM Giga Factory. He reiterated that the Centre is committed to developing the required infrastructure and ecosystem to promote and fast-track the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs).
The anchor unit for this cluster is the Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies (ARACT) and is going to be set up its Giga Factory on 262 acres of land. This will comprise a 16 GW cell manufacturing unit and a 5 GW battery pack unit with a projected investment of Rs 9,500 crore spread over a period of five years. The Amara Raja Giga Corridor, once up and running, is projected to generate direct and indirect employment for about 4,500 and about the same number, respectively, contributing positively to the socio-economic advancement of the area at large.
The EMC has been provided with 307.47 acres of land with full capacity allotted to four companies: Amara Raja, Altmin, Lohum Materials, and Scell Energy. The investment these four companies have committed tightly waits in the range of `10,574 crore and they expect to generate employment for 19,164 persons including 5,864 direct and 13,300 indirect jobs.
