In a significant step, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah met with the CEO of a subsidiary company of Taiwanese chip manufacturing giant Foxconn in Bengaluru. At the Vidhana Soudha, Siddaramaiah met with the team led by Brand Cheng, CEO of Foxconn Industrial Internet, to explore the establishment of a manufacturing facility close to Tumakuru.
Large and Medium Industries Minister M.B. Patil, RDPR, IT and BT Minister Priyank Kharge, and other senior bureaucrats were present at the meeting. Foxconn, which will make the Apple phones' casing, has a subsidiary called Foxconn Industrial Internet. They have shown a desire to invest Rs 8,800 crore.
The Japanese Industrial Area near Tumakuru has 100 acres of land available, Siddaramaiah assured the group. "Our state government would extend complete cooperation," he declared.
The government of Karnataka recently declared that all necessary legal impediments had been overcome in order to quickly transfer 300 acres of property to a major Taiwanese chip manufacturing company. Additionally, Minister Patil stated that the business would begin producing by April of next year.
"A total of 300 acres in the ITIR's (IT Investment Region) Devanahalli and Doddaballapur taluks would be handed to the company. About Rs. 8,500 crore would be spent by the corporation to build a manufacturing facility. Following the land transfer, the business may start construction work right away, he had stated. According to him, the government is helping to commission the project, which would create 50,000 jobs.
