The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), which is state-owned, announced on Monday that it plans to invest Rs 2,500 crore in renewable energy projects in Madhya Pradesh in phases. SECI has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Madhya Pradesh government to establish a 200 MW solar project in Dhar under the CPSU Scheme, along with a 1,000 MWh Battery Storage Project in the region, according to a company announcement.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Shri Sivakumar V Vepakomma, Director (Power Systems) at SECI and Shri. Manu Srivastava, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary (NRE), was present with Hon'ble Minister of New & Renewable Energy of Madhya Pradesh, Shri Rakesh Shukla, and Shri. R P Gupta, retired IAS, Chairman and Managing Director of SECI.
The 200 MW Solar Project is included in a 500 MW Agreement signed in 2023 with MP Power Management Company Limited (MPPMCL) for a duration of 25 years during which SECI will provide electricity to the state. SECI has suggested a step-by-step capital investment of Rs 2500 Cr for the growth and advancement of Renewable Energy in Madhya Pradesh.
The summit was joined by numerous stakeholders from the central government and delegates from different countries and states.
