Government officials stated that Rajasthan will establish three organizations to enhance mineral utilization, which generated an estimated revenue exceeding Rs 7,460 crore in the Financial Year 2023-24. The government intends to create an excellence center in Jaipur, a mining institute in Udaipur, and a research facility for petrochemicals in Jodhpur. It also intends to establish a firm named Rajasthan Mineral Exploration Ltd.
Rajasthan led the country's mining block auctions, and a recent gathering of state mining ministers in Konark, Odisha, recognized the state for its "excellence," stated Ravikant. A mineral policy introduced in 2024 aims to encourage both domestic and international investments as well as partnerships in mining, according to the official from the mines department. A primary goal of the policy is to reduce illegal mining and enhance revenue generation. Additional goals encompass sustainable mining techniques that reduce environmental effects by implementing efficient waste management, restoring sites, and safeguarding ecosystems and natural resources.
The state produces 22 primary minerals and 36 secondary minerals, being the only producer of lead, zinc, wollastonite, selenite, calcite, and gypsum in the nation. The 2024 policy aims to increase the mining sector's share of the state’s gross domestic product from 3.4 percent to 5 percent by the Financial Year 2029-30 and 6-8 percent by FY 2046-47.
