On February 6, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to Karnataka to officially open the indigenous helicopter facility of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in the Tumakuru district's Bidirehalla Kaval. The Prime Minister will also open the India Energy Week at the Bengaluru International Exhibition Center during his visit.
With the completion of manufacture, structural assembly, final assembly-line facilities, helipad, flight hangar, ATC, equipping hangar, and administration building, the new greenfield manufacturing plant is prepared to start Phase I operations, according to official sources.
The 615-acre facility will produce Indian Multirole Helicopters (IMRH) and Light Utility Helicopters (LUH), and it may also be used in the future for MRO (Maintenance Repair & Overhaul) of LCH, LUH, Civil ALH, and IMRH.
The plant will initially produce 30–40 helicopters annually, and thereafter output will rise to 60–70 helicopters annually. According to sources, the manufacturing plant will assist the growth of the aerospace sector ecosystem in the area and directly or indirectly employ 5,000 people. Additionally, PM Modi will formally launch many Jal Jeevan Mission initiatives in the state.
