The Omkareshwar Reservoir in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh will host 80 megawatts (MW) of floating solar power, according to NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (REL). Rewa Ultra Mega Solar, a joint venture between MP Urja Vikas Nigam and Solar Energy Corporation of India, conducted the auction on August 8, 2023. The electricity produced by the project would be used by the state discoms at the discovered rate of Rs 3.80 per unit.

20 GW of renewable energy capacity is planned for the NTPC Group, along with a 4 GW energy storage system and the first green hydrogen-based PNG blending facility in the nation. By 2032, NTPC plans to have 60 GW of renewable energy capacity and to be a significant participant in the fields of green hydrogen technology and energy storage.
