Indian Oil Company Ltd (IOCL) and NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) have signed a contract for
the establishment of renewable energy projects to satisfy IOCL refineries' 24/7 power needs. In addition to Shrikant Madhav Vaidya, Chairman of IOCL, the JV agreement was signed in the presence of Gurdeep Singh, Chairman and Managing Director of NTPC Limited. "The signing of this joint venture agreement between the two behemoths would enable NTPC Limited and IOCL to accomplish the government's clean energy targets in their respective core industries," NTPC Limited said in a statement.
In order to pursue its green energy business vigorously over the next ten years, NTPC Ltd., through its wholly-owned subsidiary NGEL, has set the audacious goal of constructing a renewable power portfolio of 60 GW.
