The NLC India and Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam signed a contract for the delivery of 300 MW of solar energy over the course of 25 years. 510 MW of solar project capacity was acquired by the NLC, a central PSU, through competitive bidding under the CPSU Scheme Phase-II Tranche-III offered by the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA). The NLC stated in a statement that a 300 MW solar project was being built in Rajasthan's Bikaner District near Barsingsar.
TATA Power Solar Systems has been given the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contract for the project. On August 17 in Jaipur, NLC India Limited (NLCIL) and Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (RUVNL) signed the Power Usage Agreement (PUA) for the 300 MW solar project. The agreement calls for Rajasthan to receive solar power over the subsequent 25 years.
The project would produce green energy totaling 750 million units per year, all of which will be provided to Rajasthan. Rajasthan will benefit from the project's assistance in achieving its Renewable Purchase Obligation goals. The project's electricity generation will contribute to a yearly decrease in carbon dioxide emissions of 0.726 million tonnes.
This is the first time NLCIL is expanding its footprint of this capacity in additional states, in addition to the 1.40 GW capacity it currently has in Tamil Nadu. Currently, NLCIL has a 1,421 MW capacity for renewable energy. According to the company's corporate plan, 6,031 MW of capacity would be installed by 2030.
