State-owned producer of manganese ore MOIL stated that its production increased by 45% to 8.15 lakh tonnes (LT) between April and September 2023. According to a statement from the miner, during the same six-month period the year before, it had produced 5.63 LT of manganese ore. Production in September 2023 increased by 48% to 1.35 LT from 0.91 LT in the corresponding month the previous year.
The company's sales from April through September 2023 increased to 7.57 LT, representing a 54% year-over-year increase over the 4.89 LT sales reported during the same period in 2022. Sales were 1.56 LT in September 2023, up 60% from 0.97 LT in September 2022. In comparison to April to September of 2022, 692 tonnes of electrolytic manganese dioxide (EMD) were produced, an increase of 26.28 percent.
According to the business, "The exploratory core drilling increased more than three times to 34,684 metres from 11,514.90 metres in April-September 2022". Approximately 46% of the nation's total demand for dioxide ore is met by MOIL, which is part of the Ministry of Steel. Currently, the annual production is about 1.3 million tonnes on average.
