Larsen & Toubro (L&T) announced they have secured a significant contract from the ITER Organization to implement advanced welding technology for their nuclear fusion project in France. L&T classifies a ‘major order’ as one valued between Rs 1,000 crore and Rs 2,500 crore.
The infrastructure major mentioned in a filing to BSE, "L&T has won a new order from the France-headquartered intergovernmental body the ITER Organization for deployment of critical advanced technologies for assembly of ports and complex parts with the vacuum vessel at the world's largest nuclear fusion project at Cadarache in Southern France."
The company inked a treaty with the ITER Organization for technical partnership on the development.
According to the MoU, L&T will be backing the ITER Organization in making technology for the hardware and assembly of fusion-related systems within ITER Tokamak's vacuum vessel to standardize the plasma process.
The ITER Organization intends to display that fusion energy can be cast for peaceful resolves by showing its scientific and technological feasibility. India, South Korea, Japan, Russia, China, the European Union, and the United States are all part of the ITER Organization as member countries.
