Larry Page, the tech billionaire who co-founded Google with Sergey Brin, is establishing a new firm centered on AI technologies for product manufacturing. A new AI startup named Dynatomics aims to create AI solutions that generate “highly optimized” design renderings of items suitable for eventual production in factories, as per a report by The Information.
The Dynatomics team is made up of a small group of AI developers and engineers, led by Chris Anderson, who formerly served as the chief technology officer (CTO) of the electric airplane startup Kittyhawk.
The recently closed ‘flying car’ startup received support from Larry Page and aimed to develop small electric vehicles that could fly. Numerous other tech startups are investigating ways AI might improve efficiency in manufacturing. Orbital Materials, for example, is developing an AI platform aimed at finding new materials suitable for producing batteries and carbon dioxide-absorbing cells. In the meantime, PhysicsX provides AI-created simulations for engineers in the automotive and aerospace fields.
Larry Page and Sergey Brin officially stepped down from their roles at the parent company Alphabet in 2019, with Sundar Pichai taking over the role of CEO of Google as well as Alphabet. Although Brin no longer holds an official position at the tech giant, he seems to be actively involved in activities at Google DeepMind.
