US manufacturing powerhouse Jabil Inc plans to open a new factory in Gujarat, which will be its second facility in India. With a capital of Rs 1,000 crore, the firm intends to strengthen its footprint in India. The contract includes initiatives to investigate a post-wafer fabrication silicon photonics facility with advanced co-packaged optics capabilities.
Jabil Inc, recognized for its design and production of electronic circuit board assemblies and systems, along with supply chain solutions, seeks to enhance its footprint in the country.
“We are proud to welcome Gujarat to Jabil’s global network of over 100 sites across 25 countries. As businesses navigate evolving market conditions, this expansion underscores our ability to implement solutions that best serve our customers,” said Matt Crowley, Executive Vice President, Global Business Units at Jabil.
The announcement occurred alongside the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Jabil and the government of Gujarat at the Gujarat SemiConnect IESA Vision Summit held in Gandhinagar.
For more than ten years, Jabil has been involved in the photonics industry, focusing on product development, solutions for optical networking, and extensive manufacturing for telecommunications, AI, and data communication. The company additionally serves sectors such as semiconductor equipment, automotive, healthcare, and warehouse automation.
