A historic achievement in the renewable energy sector was achieved by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) for the financial year 2024-25.
Renewable energy of 25GW capacity has been added by the country, Rapidly expanding nearly of 35% over the previous year's addition of 18.57GW. The renewable energy growth was guided by India's solar power sector, with capacity additions soaring from 15GW in FY24 to nearly 21GW in FY25, a remarkable 38% increase.

The important measure are being taken by the government to decarbonizes the transportation sector and domestic households by mandating the blending of bio-CNG with compresses natural gas for transportation and piped natural gas for households. The bending requirements will commence at 1% on April 1, 2025, with an aim to raise it to 5% by the fiscal year 2029.
