In a pivotal move towards technological independence, India’s inaugural semiconductor chip producer is poised to set up a cutting-edge semiconductor chip and advanced packaging facility in Chhattisgarh.
This bold initiative signifies Chhattisgarh's foray into the advanced manufacturing industry, featuring an enormous investment of Rs 1,143 crore.
The new facility, which will be established by Polymatech Electronics based in Chennai, will cover 1,50,000 square feet and will concentrate on manufacturing Gallium Nitride (GaN) semiconductor chips. These cutting-edge chips are crucial for facilitating next-generation 5G and 6G technologies.
“This is a significant milestone for Chhattisgarh. With policy support, tax incentives, and world-class infrastructure, the state offers a strong foundation for investment in electronics and semiconductor sectors,” said CM Vishnu Deo Said.
He also highlighted that the state government is completely in sync with the Union Government’s vision of advancing deep-tech innovation within the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Digital India’ initiatives.
The government acted quickly to support the project. Officials from the Industry Department stated that land was allocated in Sector 5, Nava Raipur, through a transparent tender process within 45 days, and the lease registration took only 25 days to finalize.
Rajat Kumar, Secretary of Commerce and Industry, added, “This initiative will not only create employment opportunities but also enhance Chhattisgarh’s role in global semiconductor manufacturing.”
The new semiconductor facility marks a significant advancement for India’s technology landscape, showcasing increasing progress toward high-value innovation and industrial change.
