Hindustan Zinc Limited, the largest integrated zinc producer in India, has revealed its signing of a power delivery agreement (PDA) with Serentica Renewables, a prominent renewable energy firm in India. This updated agreement boosts Hindustan Zinc’s 24/7 renewable energy capacity to 530 MW, rising from the earlier 450 MW pact, resulting in renewable energy representing more than 70% of the firm’s overall power requirements.
This contract symbolizes a unique 24/7 renewable energy provision, ensuring a stable 315 MW of continuous power delivery in 15-minute intervals. The initiative will involve the development of new solar, wind, and energy storage solutions at various sites, in addition to the incorporation of current renewable energy projects.
The initiative will be systematically allocated throughout resource-rich areas in India and is set to be completely functional by 2027. This cutting-edge hybrid approach removes Hindustan Zinc's reliance on traditional power sources, ensuring consistent, dependable energy via sophisticated storage systems and market-driven methods.
AkshayHiranandani, CEO of Serentica Renewables, added, “This agreement is a breakthrough in providing consistent, reliable renewable energy to one of India’s largest industrial players. By guaranteeing 315 MW in every 15-minute time block, we are solving the challenge of intermittency and ensuring a stable energy supply for Hindustan Zinc.”
This achievement signifies a major advancement in industrial energy sourcing, moving past conventional 24/7 renewable frameworks to a Time Block-Based renewable energy approach. In contrast to traditional agreements, this PDA provides a precisely managed, on-demand energy supply utilizing a combination of solar, wind, and cutting-edge storage solutions.
