In a tactical effort to enhance India’s standing in global automotive manufacturing, Hero Motors Ltd (HML) has revealed a partnership with Germany’s SchmiedeTechnik Plettenberg (STP) for the manufacture of high-precision forged powertrain components. The production plant will be established at Hero Industrial Park in Ludhiana, an important center for automotive and EV production.
STP, a German metallurgy specialist with six locations in Germany, and HML, a division of Hero Motors Company (HMC), have partnered to enhance India's precision engineering skills for global markets.
“With our strong R&D and manufacturing capabilities, this partnership with STP will enable us to capture a significant share of the global powertrain components market,” said Pankaj M Munjal, Chairman of HMC Group.
STP Chairman and CEO, Cornel Mueller, emphasized the benefits of the partnership, stating, “Partnering with HML strengthens our global footprint and enhances cost efficiencies. Beyond manufacturing in India, our goal is to foster cross-border knowledge exchange and integrate best practices between Germany and India.”
With interests spanning automotive components, e-mobility, and premium retail, Hero Motors aims to position India as a leader in precision powertrain manufacturing through this alliance.
