Greenply Industries has revealed that it would invest around Rs 75 crore to build a plywood and allied products manufacturing unit through a wholly owned subsidiary at Sandila Industrial Area in Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh. The anticipated capacity addition is 13.50 million m2 per annum though the existing capacity of the firm is 24.90 million m2 per annum.
Greenply has decided to establish the plant at Hardoi considering the proximity of principal raw materials such as agro forestry timber and availability of workers, along with increasing demand in northern and central markets of India. The novel project is likely to be operational by the fourth quarter of 2021-22.
It is also the proud owner of FSC – FM (Forest Management) certification from Forest
Stewardship Council (FSC) for its sustainable plantation unit situated in Tizit, Nagaland and the first firm to have effectively achieved the FSC –FM certification in the interior infrastructure sector in India.
The certification would now confirm promoting and implementing sustainable farm management practices in Greenply Industries plantation area in Tizit enhancing the quality and livelihood of the local group members associated with the project. The idea is to acquire wood based raw material legally and responsibly on continuous and sustainable basis from the plantations grown by small growers who planted the short rotation fast growing species like eucalyptus, melia, duabanga, canarium, and terminalia.
The firm is the very first one in the wood & panel industry to introduce a range of zero emission (E-0) products keeping in mind the health interest of its consumer by assuring to safeguard the indoor air quality by dropping formaldehyde emission in homes. E-0 grade emission compliance made sure that the plywood releases negligible formaldehyde and that its manufacturing facility has an on-site testing mechanism to monitor quality of the product in this regard.
Sanidhya Mittal, joint MD, Greenply Industries, stated, “We have decided to infuse zest, sustainability and support all of which enhances the meaning of ‘green’ in a more meaningful way to a world and thus we are aiming to promote sustainable development amongst the local community through our plantation unit in Tizit Nagaland.
