Serentica Renewables (Serentica) announced that it had reached an agreement with Greenko Group to purchase 1,500 MW of electricity daily from energy storage facilities. According to a statement by Serentica, the energy will be obtained from Greenko Group's planned energy storage facilities in Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh and delivered to commercial clients.
"Serentica and the world's leading energy storage company, Greenko Group, have inked a first-of-its-kind standalone energy storage capacity offtake contract. According to the terms of the agreement, Serentica will use a total of 1,500 MWhr of Greenko's special energy storage capacity. The contract is in effect for 25 years. Long duration energy storage is essential to decarbonizing the nation's energy consumption and lowering greenhouse gas emissions, according to Pratik Agarwal, Director of Serentica Renewables.
The one-of-a-kind energy storage capacity offtake agreement with Greenko puts Serentica on a faster track to achieving its goal of converting challenging-to-abate, energy-intensive sectors to clean energy and assisting in the fight against climate change.
