Pralhad Joshi, the Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, launched India’s first AI-driven solar manufacturing line at Goldi Solar’s newly established facility in Kosamba, Surat, Gujarat. This innovative AI-driven facility aims to transform solar manufacturing by enhancing accuracy, scalability, and efficiency. According to the company, it is pivotal in furthering India’s path to reach a net-zero future.
The facility, intended to reach a production capacity of 14 GW, incorporates multiple innovative technologies, such as AI-driven high-speed stringers that allow for the manufacturing of 10,000 cells each hour. This automation guarantees strong consistency, lowers mistakes, and decreases material waste. The facility also employs AI-driven Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) systems that use computer vision to identify and remove defects at a microscopic level, guaranteeing superior quality control.
Furthermore, the facility features a combined pre-lamination area equipped with an automated EVA laying robot, enhancing the positioning of encapsulation layers while minimizing human involvement. This minimizes inconsistencies in comparison to manual techniques. The facility is additionally outfitted with AI-powered 3-Display EL and visual inspection systems to ensure that only top-quality solar modules are manufactured, enhancing reliability and longevity.
