GE Aerospace has announced its plan to invest over Rs 240 crore (approximately USD 30 million) to upgrade its manufacturing facility in Pune, India. The investment aims to enhance the facility's capabilities by introducing new projects, manufacturing processes, and capacity enhancements.
The Pune facility, inaugurated in 2015, specializes in producing components for commercial jet engines. With this investment, the facility will acquire new machines, equipment, and specialized tools and expand its capacity to meet growing customer demands.
Amol Nagar, Managing Director for GE Aerospace's Pune facility, stated, "This investment helps us to continue our growth in aerospace in India, giving us the resources we need to meet increasing customers' demand."
The components manufactured at the Pune plant are supplied to GE's global factories for the assembly of G90, GEnx, GE 9X commercial jet engines, and LEAP engines by CFM, a joint venture between GE and Safran.
Additionally, the facility has played a significant role in developing local aerospace manufacturing talent by training over 5,000 people since its inception in specialized aerospace precision manufacturing processes.
