Foxconn one of the Taiwanese manufacturing company has everything set for the commercial production of Apple Airpods in India. The production of the new AirPods has started in April of this year in Kongara Kalan in Telangana. This will be Apple’s second ‘Made in India’ product.
This change in the choice of manufacturing will cut down the dependency of the US on China. One of the sources has stated, “Yes, Apple AirPods production at Foxconn’s new Hyderabad facility has started for export purposes. The new Bengaluru facility will also soon start operations for iPhone production and will play a key role in ramping up exports from India,” while the Hyderabad facility has started for export purposes, another manufacturing plant in Bengaluru will also start its iPhone production. This new plant will have a capacity of 20 million units per annum.
Tata Electronics has partnered with Apple for the production of Apple products in India. The Bengaluru outlet is set to be the second-largest facility outside China, made with an investment of Rs. 25,000 crore. Tata Electronics will be involved in the trial production of manufacturing components for the new lineup.
This move from Apple is made after the increased geopolitical tension between China and the US. This move makes India the major manufacturing hub for the US, beneficially attracting more international production tenders.
