Foxconn, an Apple supplier, has stated publicly that it is looking for Indian partners to work with on projects including electric vehicles and semiconductors. The change has occurred since Young Liu, the chairman and CEO of Foxconn subsidiary Hon Hai Technology Group, returned from India.
Taiwan's Foxconn has been seeking to expand operations there, according to the news source. The business, however, recovered from the early-year setbacks. Young Liu stated on Saturday that Foxconn's efforts to strengthen alliances in fresh markets like semiconductor research and electric car production were aided by his trip to India.
"India is a country with a large population," quoted Young Liu as saying. "My trip this week supported Foxconn's efforts to deepen partnerships and seek cooperation in new areas such as semiconductor
development and electric vehicles," he added. Young Liu stressed that Foxconn will continue to communicate with the local government to seek beneficial development opportunities for the company. The firm, best known for making Apple's iPhones is one of the world's biggest contract makers of electronics. The company is now expanding in other areas including electric vehicles. "Foxconn will continue to communicate with local governments to seek the most beneficial development opportunities for the company and all stakeholders," Young Liu said.
Notably, Foxconn already has factories in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. On March 5, Foxconn announced a major investment in Karnataka that will generate over one lakh jobs, according to an official statement. As much as 300 acres of land has been identified for this purpose near the Bengaluru International Airport in Doddaballapura and Devanahalli taluks.
Young Liu met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi while he was in India. They talked about how to improve India's ecosystem for technology and innovation. The Prime Minister tweeted in response to a tweet from Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn); "I enjoyed my conversation with Young Liu. Our conversations included a range of subjects intended to strengthen India's tech and innovation eco-system."
Tweeted Hon Hai Technologies (Foxconn), "India is being visited by Chairman Young Liu. We had a cordial meeting with the honourable prime minister @narendramodi today and gave him an update on the nation's positive development. Foxconn will keep creating an ecosystem in India that enables all of our stakeholders to cooperate, work together, and prosper."
