In an effort to develop the aquaculture industry, the FM proposed the PM Matsya Sampada Yojana. Under this scheme, a budget of up to 1 lakh Cr. Has been allotted for the development of 5 aquaparks across the country.
These five will be integrated aquaparks and are specifically directed towards the development of the aquaculture industry of the country.
The PM Matsya Sampada Yojana is directed at the holistic development of the fisheries sector and socio-economic welfare for the fishing community.
Initially launched in September 2020 under the Central Government's Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, the scheme has only seen 30 beneficiaries from Thane district over the past two years.
