Karnataka is among top the top three states in Ev registrations; number wet up to five times since 2018. The battery powered vehicles are slowly over the streets in Karnataka with a five- fold increase in registration of EVs in the past years.
The record breaking prices of petrol and diesel, people have started to consider vehicles
and thus, the demand for electric vehicles is also increasing.
According to the regional transport office (RTO), there has been atleast five times an increase in registration of EVs in the state. Also about 88% of the EVs are two- wheeler.
Narendra Holkar, additional commissioner of transport (Enforcement South) said that there was an increase in the number of registrations of EVs in the city and the state. “People are realising the benefits of electric vehicles. All Evs have road tax exemption with no registrations fee which is also attracting people.”
Hence with the growth in Evs there has been a sharp decline in non- EV (petrol and diesel vehicles) registrations.
Recently Union road, transport and highway minister Nitin Gadkari announced that Karnataka was among the top three states in terms of electric vehicles.
