The Cabinet's approval of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to be signed with the CPSUs on Wednesday, the government of Arunachal Pradesh has decided to transfer five hydroelectric projects that have been terminated and have a combined generation capacity of 2823 MW to two CPSUs. The two CPSUs and the MoA would soon be signed.
The MoA to be inked with the CPSUs for the development of hydropower in the state was approved by the state Cabinet during its meeting, which was presided over by Chief Minister Pema
Khandu. "This would open the door to five hydropower projects that have a combined installed capacity of 2820 MW. This would encourage significant investment in the state and create jobs "An official from the state government informed the media. The source estimated that these five projects will cost Rs 40,000 crore to complete over the following five to seven years. Of the five projects, the Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd will be responsible for developing Emini (500 MW), Amulin (420 MW), and Minundon (400 MW), while the North Eastern Electric Power Company Limited (NEEPCO) would receive the two hydroelectric projects Naying (1,000 MW) and Hirong (500 MW).
These projects would generate about Rs 500 crore in annual revenue and about Rs 100 crore for local area development (LAD). An action plan, according to him, has been created to start work on 13 projects with a total capacity of 12,343 MW. A total of Rs 1.5 lakh crore would be invested as a result, and the state will receive Rs 2,000 crore in revenue as well as about Rs 350 crore every year for LAD.
Arunachal Pradesh will make a significant contribution to India's goal of reaching 500 gigawatts of non-fossil energy capacity thanks to its hydropower. The Cabinet also gave its approval for the state government's power sector revenue to be invested in government bonds for Arunachal Pradesh's development.
