The Kharghar Vikhroli Transmission Limited (KVTL) has been officially launched, according to Adani Energy Solutions Limited, the Adani portfolio's energy solution, transmission and distribution arm. According to the corporation, it will make it possible to bring in more power, which will help Mumbai fulfil its current and projected electricity needs. According to the business, Mumbai needs the project badly because the transmission corridor's current capacity is insufficient to provide more power into the city.
Mumbai metropolis will receive an additional 1,000 MW of dependable power from the Kharghar-Vikhroli line as a preventative measure against future occurrences of this kind. "With the commissioning of this project, Mumbai now has a 400 KV grid within its municipal boundaries, enhancing its ability to import electricity and enhancing reliability and stability. Consumers who commute through bullet trains, metro rail, and city railways as well as for commercial and residential facilities will benefit from increased sustainability, the statement stated.
A 1,500 MVA 400kV Gas Insulated Substation (GIS) and 74 circuit miles (km) of 400kV and 220kV transmission lines are both part of KVTL. When it comes to 400 KV substations, it has the most compact design, taking up about 9,500 sq m. Due to its vertical stacking of 400kV and 220kV GIS, it requires the least amount of area.
The KVTL project begins in the Navi Mumbai neighbourhood of Kharghar, travels through its urban areas, and ends in the Mumbai city neighbourhood of Vikhroli. The network of Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL), formerly Adani Transmission Limited (ATL), totals 18,875 circuit kilometres, of which 14,279 circuit kilometres are in use and 4,596 circuit kilometres are under construction at various stages.
