Increasing urbanization, growing demand for high rise buildings, and government initiatives such as 100 Smart Cities and AMRUT cites were cited as the major growth drivers for the elevators and escalators market. By opening the way to higher buildings, the elevator played a decisive role in creating the characteristic urban geography of many modern cities and promises to fill an indispensable part in future city development. Companies involved in manufacturing elevators are increasingly focusing on smart and energy-efficient elevators to attract consumer attention across various end-use segments.
MEKASTER industrial lifts, established in 1971, have become an integral part of a wide range of industries, providing customers with an improved vertical transportation method for men and material. The company meets stringent industry demands on safe, reliable, vertical transportation using a positive drive of rack & pinion in dusty and hazardous environments. MEKASTER lifts can be installed in existing plants, indoors or outdoors, on a straight, inclined or curved surface.
Unique Modular Range of Elevators
Based in New Delhi, MEKASTER is synonymous to marketing and serving the Indian economy's core sectors. MEKASTER was the first lift manufacturer in India to introduce Rack & Pinion drive technology. This technology offers unique advantages compared to conventional lift designs such as wire rope and hydraulic lift systems.
"When MEKASTER had originally started manufacture Rack & Pinion Elevator in technical collaboration with Linden Alimak of Sweden in mid-80's, at that time the rules for collaborations and the technology transfer, royalty etc. were complicated. This resulted in restricted sale of Alimak branded hoists to 25 to 30 units only till mid-90s. Again, we are perhaps the only manufacturer who supply Rack and Pinion Elevators to Indian Space Research Organisation", stated Harish Banga, Director – Technical, MEKASTER.
Similarly, the firm was first to introduce spring-loaded safety relief valves in collaboration with Sebim Sarasin (now weir valves) from France and concrete paving equipment in partnership with M/s. Gomaco of USA. Also, MEKASTER was instrumental in bringing the Digital Switching System to India in 1982. The ushering of digital switching in India was a critical phase of Indian Telecommunications and has opened the doors for the Nation's overall economic development.
"First product MEKASTER started manufacturing is MEKASTER TOOLS in the year 1980 with the prime objective of providing high quality industrial hand tools. They are ideally suitable for high torque application - primarily for assembly and maintenance of power plants, petro chemical plants, aircraft engines and general maintenance of air craft and earth moving machineries, cement plants etc.," explained Hardesh Mehta, Vice President - Marketing, MEKASTER.

Furthermore, for other providers, the working height of the elevators runs between 20 to 270 meters. However, MEKASTER is the second manufacturer globally after the USA to manufacture and supply 470-meter height Rack & Pinion Elevators for defense services. Not only this, but these elevators operate in the open with long life requiring minimum maintenance and sturdy enough to tolerate extreme weather with the high-velocity wind.

And that's why MEKASTER has been providing Rack & Pinion Elevators to NTPC Ramagundam (one of the current largest power station) since the 1980s, which is more than three decades. Presently, the company has offered more than 1200 elevators in India and the Middle East, in which some of the clients are Tata Power, BHEL, NALCO, Doordarshan, and many more. Afterward, maintenance and service after the sale are the main criteria for MEKASTER Rack & Pinion Elevators' success. One of the Group Company - MEKASTER ENGINEERING SERVICES is dedicated to the maintenance and service.
