The manufacturing and application of chemical processing equipment in India, particularly plate heat exchangers, plate fin/finned tube air cooled heat exchangers, and sea water/Brine water electro-chlorination systems, are advancing rapidly. These technologies are crucial for improving efficiency and sustainability in various industrial processes, with ongoing innovations addressing challenges like biofouling and energy consumption. The developments mark a new level of capability, particularly in large-scale chemical plants.
Established in 2005, Adhiam has carved a niche in the chemical processing equipment manufacturing sector, with a particular emphasis on plate heat exchangers. The company’s inception is rooted in the extensive experience of its founder, who brought over three decades of expertise in plate heat exchangers from industry giants like Alfa Laval, and GEA Ecoflex (Now Kelvion). Its journey began with the servicing and supply of parts for plate heat exchangers, but within five years, it expanded into manufacturing complete units.
Strategic Expansion
“In 2018, we expanded our operations by introducing a new division focused on Plate fin/finned tube air-cooled heat exchanger manufacturing", says Murugesan Boopathy, Director at Adhiam. Around the same time, the company ventured into the production of electroly zers, specifically for seawater and Brine water electro-chlorination systems. Today, the core product offerings include three key solutions: plate heat exchangers, Plate fin/finned tube air
-cooled heat exchangers, and Electrolyzer for Sea Water/Brine water electro chlorination systems. “We have established manufacturing facilities in Chakan Industrial Area, Pune, and Chennai, enabling us to meet the growing demand across various industries", adds Boopathy. Its product range extends across various industries, including chemical, petrochemical, Power, HVAC and Refrigeration, Metal fabrication, sugar, distilleries, and oil and gas underscoring its versatility and broad market reach.

The company understands that maintaining strong relationships with its clients is crucial in an industry where technological requirements are constantly evolving. To this end, it has implemented a regional management strategy ensuring that clients receive personalized attention and timely support. The approach is complemented by the company’s investment in digital marketing, which helps it stay connected with its clients and keep them informed about new developments and offerings.
Paving the Way for Global Growth
The supply chain presents another area where Adhiam’s operational expertise comes to the fore. Transportation costs and packaging are two significant concerns in the industry, and the company addresses these by training its employees in efficient packaging techniques and sourcing high-quality materials at competitive prices.
The company’s R&D team, composed of experts with decades of experience, focuses on optimizing the design and efficiency of heat exchangers and electrolyzers. This includes developing innovative corrugation patterns for plates in case of plate heat exchangers and fins and finning in case of plate fin/finned tube heat exchangers that improves thermal efficiency and advancing coating technologies for electrolyzer to extend their lifespan of Anode and reduce operational costs. To maintain its competitive edge, it plans to internalize more of its production processes, particularly the manufacturing of gaskets and plates. By doing so, the company aims to reduce production costs and exert greater control over the quality of its products, ensuring that it meets the high expectations of its clientele.
The company is working towards obtaining ASME U-stamp certification, a crucial credential to enhance its credibility and open doors to new markets worldwide. Adhiam has already established its factory in Qatar which caters to Industries in Qatar. With a strong foundation in India and a growing presence in inter national markets, Adhiam is focused on expanding its operations, including plans to establish new facilities in Dubai and Saudi Arabia.
