Defence manufacturing in India is gaining momentum with the rising concerns of national security. Demand for defence equipment in the country has been growing due to the ongoing territorial disputes and increasing foreign aggression. With this, the Ministry of Defence has been allocated Rs. 4,78,196 crores in the Union Budget (2021-2022). Furthermore, a lot of opportunities are there to grab for MSMEs as defence suppliers in the areas across raw material supply, forgings, heat-treatment, critical CNC machining, welding and fabrication etc. However, the defence industry is one of the most sensitive industries, wherein, manufacturing companies must possess the needed expertise and competency to stand out and build fool-proof and robust systems.
This is where A P LMEC SYSTEMS is considered one of the specialized companies that cater exclusively to defence and aerospace applications. This trust is built around commitment and quality when it comes to product deliverability. The firm was established in the year 2007 as a partnership firm to manufacture and assemble precision engineering components and assemblies. A P LMEC SYSTEMS has partnered with BDL in indigenizing a few critical assemblies and mechanical hardware for the missile systems and catering to the needs of BDL for the last two
decades. They are associated with BDL right from the initial stages of development of the items and have participated in the indigenization of a few sub-assemblies like Inductor Assembly & Co2 Cylinders for Invar Missile which is very critical to missile functioning, which is hither to being imported. Currently, imports have been stopped for these items.
“We supply various critical assemblies and components to DRDO Labs; meet their stringent quality standards and delivery requirements. Thus, we regularly get enquiries from DRDL, RCI, ASL and other labs. We keep good contacts with the scientists at the labs and ascertain their requirements for new development,” highlights Seeram Satyanarayana, Director of the company.
“We also supply hardware for Igniters, critical Sheet Metal items, high precision CNC machined items, bridging (Soldering) of very thin (0.015 microns dia) nichrome wires among others,” he adds.
Top-Notch Manufacturing Capability
A P LMEC SYSTEMS is equipped with precision machining facilities like CNC Machining Centers, Turn-Mill Centers, Precision Lathes & Milling machines, EDM, Grinding, Press working, TIG Welding, Pressure Testing, Hot & Cold Chambers to name a few, including CNC Winding, magnetising equipment, Soldering & Assembly Stations and others.

“Our Leadership mantra is to enable everybody right from the junior unskilled operator to production manager to become leaders in their area. We maintain a family culture among all the employees of our company,” he explains.
Presently, the maximum size of the item that can be machined is about 500 mm, wherein, heavy competition is prevailing for machining of these small-sized components. Therefore, the company is expanding itself by equipping it with the facilities to machine up to three meters long along with the establishment of other welding and testing facilities. In order to accommodate the new facilities, the company is building an additional shed of 25,000 Sq. ft built up in a plot area of 8000 sq.Metres, wherein, the additional facility would be operative from October this year. The company maintains good industrial relations and has been awarded by the Government of Telangana two times consecutively in (2018 & 2019) for its best employee relations in the MSME Sector.
