Tata Motors' commercial vehicle production facility in Maharashtra, Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL) will install a 12 megawatt (MW) on-site solar installation. The Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) between TPREL and Tata Motors has already signed. Tata Motors and Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) have entered into a PPA to develop a new 12MWp on-site solar project at Tata Motors' commercial vehicle manufacturing facility in Pune.
The project will produce 17.5 million electricity units annually, reducing about 12,400 tonnes of carbon dioxide. "The signing of a 12MWp PPA with Tata Motors highlights our significant advancement towards our common objectives for a sustainable future. According to Ashish Khanna, CEO of Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd., "We are dedicated to supporting the energy transition of our C&I consumers through a bouquet of our clean energy solutions."
The most recent order comes after 26-MW captive solar facility for Neosym Industry Limited (Neosym) in Maharashtra, a 6-MW captive solar plant for Chalet Hotels, and a 28.12-MW green energy plant for Sanyo Special Steel Manufacturing India Private Limited (SSMI). However, the corporation withheld the project's financial information.
The Industry estimates, a capital investment of Rs 5–6 crore is required to install 1 MW of solar energy capacity. TPREL, a division of Tata Power, has a total renewable energy capacity of 7,821 MW, including 3,689 MW of projects that are at various stages of development. The company has a 4,132 MW operational capacity, which is made up of 993 MW of wind and 3,139 MW of solar.
