The amount of renewable energy (RE) exchanged by the state-owned SECI increased by 59% year over year (y-o-y) to 35 billion units during the fiscal year 2022–23, according to an official statement. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) said that during the year, Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited's (SECI) revenues from power trading exceeded Rs 10,000 crore for the first time since its founding. "SECI has traded
over 35 BU, increasing its RE power trading volume in FY23 over the prior year by more over 59%. Similarly, for the first time since it began, the revenue from electricity trading has surpassed Rs 10,000 crore, according to the ministry. India is undergoing an unparalleled rate of energy transition towards sustainable sources, SECI MD Suman Sharma claimed in the statement.
"As stated by the Prime Minister (Narendra Modi), we are working hard to make the largest contribution to the country's path towards 500 GW of non-fossil fuel by 2030. The release quoted her as saying, "The entire team of employees and management of SECI is tirelessly working towards this aim.
SECI is the main implementer of renewable energy programmes and initiatives within the MNRE. Over 56 GW worth of RE project capacity have so far been awarded by SECI. In addition, SECI works as a project management consultant (PMC) for other public sector organisations as well as for its own investments.
