Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), declared at the most recent Annual General Meeting (AGM) that RIL is working to hasten and facilitate the installation of at least 100 GW of renewable energy generation by 2030. The corporation has set its eyes on quickening the process of becoming Net Carbon Zero by 2035. Ambani stated that this will lead to lower energy costs and increased profitability for the O2C business.
The company is making good progress towards deploying the committed capital of Rs 75,000 crore to establish its New Energy manufacturing ecosystem, which will enable this. The fast-track completion of the Dhirubhai Ambani Green Energy Giga Manufacturing Complex at Jamnagar is essential to Reliance's green energy plan. By the end of 2025, Ambani announced a gradual opening of the factory, which will produce everything from polysilicon and glass to PV modules, cells, and wafers.
The company's entry into large-scale carbon fiber manufacturing, which would aid in the development of a wind power generation infrastructure that is affordable, was also highlighted in Ambani's speech. He emphasized that building a Battery mega plant by 2026 is the top project. The production of battery chemicals, cells, and packs will be located here. The business also plans to demonstrate the integration of energy storage with wind and solar power generation at a megawatt-scale in Jamnagar by 2025, in addition to commercializing sodium-ion battery technology. After that, it will be quickly ramped up to giga size.
Ambani told the shareholders about green hydrogen in the following way: "I can confidently say now that we have a roadmap towards achieving our targeted cost of electrolyzers, and in turn, Green Hydrogen." Additionally, a giga-scale, fully automated electrolyzer manufacturing factory is in the works. This is in line with Reliance's intention to produce Green Hydrogen on a huge scale in Jamnagar.
The statement made by Ambani was, "In collaboration with our technology partners, we are firmly on the way to successfully demonstrate this first at MW scale." Additionally, he declared that Reliance has surpassed all other producers of bioenergy in India within a year. Within the next five years, the business wants to build 100 Compressed Biogas (CBG) units.
Ambani emphasized that Reliance has a workable answer to India's 'Energy Trilemma' that addresses cost, sustainability, and energy security. He emphasized that India has a fantastic opportunity to switch from being an energy importer to an exporter as a result of Reliance's move towards green energy.
