RK Singh, the minister of energy and new and renewable energy, will commission a 660 MW unit at the NTPC Barh Super Thermal Power Project in Bihar. "Unit #2 of the project's first stage is the 660 MW unit that is being officially opened. The government's effort to give the country dependable and inexpensive power would reach another milestone with the commissioning of this unit, according to the ministry of power.
Later in the day, Singh would also lay the cornerstone for an expansion of the 400/132 kV Lakhisarai sub-station owned by Power Grid. As part of the project, a 220 kV GIS will be built on the grounds of the current sub-station, and two 500 MVA transformers will also be installed.
It will be easier to deliver power to fulfil future energy demand thanks to the extension of the substation at Lakhisarai, which will also increase power availability in the districts of Lakhisarai, Sheikhpura, Munger, and Jamui.
The implementation of cutting-edge GIS technology at a 220 kV voltage level in the Lakhisarai sub-station, according to the ministry, would improve the region's access to the national grid. According to the statement, maintaining a steady power supply will help promote regional industrial and commercial growth.
