One of the leading solar panel producers in India, Gautam Solar, has partnered with Jinchen to increase its production of solar modules. A high-efficiency automatic solar module production line will be added as part of the arrangement, bringing Gautam Solar's overall manufacturing capacity to 1 gigawatt peak (GWp). The growth will be supported by the knowledge and technology of Jinchen, a world authority in high-efficiency solar cell and module manufacturing equipment.
The agreement was signed at the 16th International Conference and Exhibition on Photovoltaic Power Generation and Smart Energy (SNEC), and it is anticipated to go into effect in September 2023. The capacity of Gautam Solar's annual output of solar modules will increase from 500 megawatts (MW) to 1 GW after the expansion is finished.
The acquisition of automation, technology, and equipment for the production of high-efficiency N-Type TOPCon solar modules is the main goal of the agreement between Gautam Solar and Jinchen. In order to use the TOPCon technology, an N-Type Silicon Substrate must first have a thin tunnelling oxide layer applied to it. This is followed by a layer of highly doped Poly Silicon and Passivated Contacts. This cutting-edge method boosts solar modules' efficiency while minimising ageing of the panels.
The purchase of this cutting-edge technology is extremely important since N-Type TOPCon Cells may generate up to 30% more power than P-Type PERC Cells, which are more commonly utilised. This innovation strengthens domestic production and advances the government's "Make in India" programme. The agreement is also anticipated to make a significant contribution to the nation's efforts to meet the government-set net-zero targets.
