Adani Wind, a branch of Adani New Industries (ANIL) that provides wind energy solutions, intends to invest 2,000 crore in the construction of 5 GW (giga watt) capacity over a five-year period. The capacity would then be increased to 10 GW in an additional two years, by 2030. Our capacity will be increased in four stages. At the moment, we are producing 300 wind turbine generators with a 1.5 GW capacity. According to Milind Kulkarni, chief operating officer of Adani Wind, "we expect to attain 5 GW capacity yearly in the next five years and commission 10 GW annually in the following two years.
The largest wind turbine generator (WTG) in India, the 5.2 MW Adani Wind WTG, was included in the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy's Revised List of Models and Manufacturers (RLMM) last month. According to this listing, 5.2 MW WTG of Adani Wind is being offered for sale. The WTG is now able to begin series manufacturing for international markets thanks to type certification from Germany's WindGuard GmbH. The cost of establishing the WTG manufacturing facility in Mundra, Gujarat, has so far totaled 300 crore for the corporation.
Adani Wind is focusing on the markets of the USA, Brazil, MENASA (Middle East, North Africa and South Asia), Sri Lanka, Australia, and India with annual addressable markets of 1–12 GW per year as the need for higher turbine sizes of 5X and more is rising in the global market. Adani Wind has committed $2 billion to capacity expansion.
Although there are already well-known manufacturers of WTGs on a global scale, there aren't many turbines available with greater ratings and capacities. Even the demand from abroad is shifting to larger capacity turbines. We will see a similar trend in India as well. We anticipate offering a product that meets international standards with India's greatest capacity model, which has a 5.2 MW capacity," continued Kulkarni.
The business also intends to establish a technology facility in Germany within the next six months in order to remain competitive. "We have chosen a team for the technology centre in Germany with the necessary experience to develop end-to-end solutions for wind energy, develop new products, and introduce global trends in the wind energy segment," continued Kulkarni. The corporation is also positive on the market as the government examines the strategy for repowering wind power installations.
