ABB India stated that it had provided automation and control solutions for the 130-kilometer Indo-Bangla Friendship Pipeline (IBFPL), which will transport diesel from India to Bangladesh. On March 18, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina jointly launched the cross-border pipeline. It is anticipated that Bangladesh will have access to significant amounts of energy thanks to its 1
million tonnes per year (MMTPA) capability. Numaligarh Refinery (NRL) will be able to remotely monitor and regulate crucial pipeline characteristics including flow, pressure, and temperature as well as identify leaks thanks to the technological solution. The company stated in a statement that its solutions would deliver real-time data on the functioning of the pipeline network by providing reports, history sheets, critical warnings, and alarms, all of which would maximise efficiency and safety.
The diesel will be delivered from NRL's Siliguri marketing terminal to the Parbatipur oil depot of the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation. The pipeline, which will be the first of its kind between the two nations, will be located in Bangladesh for the remaining 6 kilometres.
Rahul Goswami, Chief Manager Projects, Numaligarh Refinery, said, "With ABB's technology, we can efficiently monitor and optimise our pipeline operations by having access to real-time information, in-depth analysis, and rapid interventions."
