India is one of the fastest growing nations and its growth pace has certainly taken a toll on the quality of air. The Air Quality Index (AQI) rises alarmingly as we travel from rural villages to urban areas to Metropolitans. Being a core element in sustenance of lifestyle the quality of air demands for an attention if overlooked may be catastrophic for future generations. Pollution is the greatest risk to human life, more so in India than in any other country. Air Quality Index (AQI) is a numerical scale used to measure and report air quality of an area on a given day. Dr. Srikanth Sola, a renowned cardiologist wondered on the fatal consequences of the continually diminishing air quality. He came across few of technologies that were adapted for improving the quality of air.
However, each procedure had its own shortcoming which finally prohibits it from being implemented in the Indian market. In 2014, Dr. Sola, developed a new type of RF coil transmitter design that was inspired by his work with medical ultrasound. This new design transmits radio waves in rapid pulses (analogous to ultrasound but using weak radio energy) that effectively overcame the limitations of the previous designs. Devic Earth has gained a rapid acknowledgement in domain of environmental sciences and operates with a mission of helping life thrive by using innovative technological solutions to create a pollution-free planet.
Construction of roads, railways, buildings and dams are a significant ref lection of developmental pace. The geographical location of India makes it an attractive trade point in South-eastern Asia. For the past few decades, the world has been bustling with various human activities that tremendously contributed to pollution. The alarming statistics have raised concerns about the poor air quality in the country and the associated health risks. The prevailing air quality issue must be addressed immediately.
Dr Srikant Sola, Co-Founder, Director of Devic Earth says, “We offer state-of-the-art air pollution control equipment with the end-users and their requirements in mind. For indoor air, Pure Skies can easily cover not only cover the complete floor, but even multiple floors in your building, office, or home. For outdoor air quality, Pure Skies covers large areas easily thanks to our point-to-point network of pulsed Wi-Fi (radiofrequency energy) systems. Setting up a Pure Skies network is as easy as installing Wi-Fi routers.”
An innovative Journey
The execution of RF Coil transmission technique for air purification was extensively tested from 2014 to 2018. Shivani Sinha, Co-founder, Devic earth added, “Extensive safety testing was performed to ensure no adverse effects on humans, plant life (landscaping and agriculture), water bodies (borewell water, fresh water lakes, and tap water), animals that are known to be affected by electromagnetic energy (migratory birds, rock bees, butter flies, and fruit bats), bacteria, and viruses. We had to put a significant effort on the manoeuvrability and ergonomics of the Devic.
Improvements were made to the system function
and miniaturization took place, reducing the Pure Skies system from a bulky box weighing 200 kg to slim cabinets weighing 30-50 kg was our primary motive. A number of enhancements took place in parallel: stronger security to prevent theft; separation of the commercial product from the controls to prevent reverse engineering; improvements in IOT capability to allow for remote monitoring and operation; and improved ruggedness of the system.”
Srikanth added, “The size of our equipment makes it a perfect choice for large area coverage specifically in traditional heavy industries. The equipment is extensively well positioned and some are precisely available at a size equivalent to a microwave and a refrigerator. The increasing emphasizes of governments on climate change and identification of air pollution and degrading air quality index as a primary threat has helped our agenda of providing clean air solutions. No other product for improving air quality exists in the world that has similar efficacy as Pure Skies.”
Pure Skies Reduces Pollution By More Than 50 Percent
The efficacy of Pure Skies was put to test in Mayapuri area of Delhi. Shaguna Sinha, CFO, Devic Earth recalled the test procedure by saying, “A Pure Skies base system was installed on the rooftop of a four story building in the Mayapuri area of Delhi. Because this is an area with predominantly low rise buildings, the range of Pure Skies would be expected to be far. The test lab installed several reference grade air quality samplers placed two km away according to standard siting methods for air quality monitors. Air quality measurements took place continuously over three weeks – an initial one week baseline, a second week with Pure Skies on, and a final week with Pure Skies off. Throughout the duration of the test, weather data and traffic patterns were recorded to correlate with pollution levels. The test took place in June 2019. All data recording and analysis were performed by the test lab.”
The increasing emphasizes of governments on climate change and identification of air pollution and degrading air quality index as a primary threat has helped our agenda of providing clean air solutions
Srikanth continued, “Air pollution - specifically PM2.5 and PM10 - reduces by 65 percent and 28 percent, respectively, with Pure Skies at a distance of two km away. I would reflect on a crucial element of cost-efficacy in air purification specifically for heavy power plants and industrial belts. Installation of air purification systems prior to the opening of the plant is highly recommended. Nearly 1.5 million people die of air pollution every year. Its growing at an alarming rate if contrasted to the mortality of COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, Pure Skies operating standards and its consumer friendly ergonomics adds to its end-user utility both for our customers and customers of our customers.”
Roadmap for Upcoming days
Devic Earth operates with a vision of being the world leader in green technology by creating a pollution-free environment for billions of lives. Srikanth adds, “The air purification industry can be estimated to be of $55billion. There are two major market drivers. Firstly, the increasing need of clean air and secondly individuals wanting a cleaner air. We have successfully purified air for athletes, in spaces like hotels, cinema halls, heavy industries. I believe that the air cleaner industry is yet unexplored and its full potential may be 10 times of its current valuation. Pure Skies are the only air purifier which handles both indoor gaseous and particle pollutants. It reduces PM10 and PM2.5 and indoor gaseous pollutants: nitrogen oxides, sulphur dioxide, and carbon monoxide.”
“Creation of potable water through recycling of water is one of our main research domains”
In upcoming days companies are expected to heavily consider the working conditions which will result in serious investments towards health quality. Srikanth adds, “Employers are looking forward to solutions for making and preserving a healthier working environment which may be attributed to three major concerns. Primarily, employee health experience. Secondly, preserving an ambient working area and finally meeting health and safety compliances. Devic Earth provides plug and play systems with a cent responsibility of installation and post operational services.
We are prepared to tap into the unexplored air cleaning market in India. Our low-down time and cost efficiency of Pure Skies will always make it a stand out among its competitors. Data testing and utilisation of technology for reducing CO2 emission are some of our major steps in enhancing our contribution in reducing the adverse impacts of climate change. We are also working on reducing water pollution both in open water bodies and closed chambers. Creation of potable water through recycling of water is one of our main research domains.”
