Indian Railways, rightly identified by the Hon’ble Finance Minister of India, as one of the seven ‘engines’ of economic growth under the PM Gati Shakti Master Plan, in her budget speech of 2022, is at a crucial juncture currently. Balancing the demand for a state-of-the-art railway transport services with the social demand of point-to-point travel in a densely populated country such as India has led to a policy of providing clean, safe, and efficient travel. One company focusing on the ‘safety’ part of supporting this vision is KSK Engineering Industries Private Limited (formerly Kontinental Steel Korporation).
KSK Engineering is an RDSO approved manufacturer of Fish Plates, Fish Plate Bars, Metal Liners, Metal Liner Bars, Glued Insulated Joints, Improved Switch Expansion Joints and Fabricated Switches supplying its products throughout the country to all the railway zones, PSUs and private track construction companies.
KSK has two major divisions – the Hot Re-Rolling Mill division and the Engineering Division. In the rolling mill, KSK manufactures customer and patented profiles for bridge expansion joints. KSK also manufactures angles, channels, flats and other profiles made of mild steel, carbon steel, spring steel, copper bearing steel and internationally acceptable grades of steel for the power, industrial, automobile and agricultural sector.
In its Engineering Division, KSK has downstream processing capabilities including normalizing, cutting, drilling, chamfering, and finishing. KSK also offers facilities such as machining, forging, fabrication, and other types of hot and cold steel processing and post-production heat-treatment facilities - all completely in-house.

KSK enjoys a repeat order rate of close to 80 percent which is credited to its End-to-End Customer Journey wherein the sales and marketing team works closely with the engineering and research team, the production team and the QA/QC team to ensure that client requirements are met all the time.
KSK also encourages its clients to conduct third-party inspections at its premises to reinforce its unwavering commitment to quality. It has a completely independent laboratory for undertaking all types of chemical and physical steel testing for all major steel grades.

KSK has also started adopting and using technologically advanced tools to provide more transparency to its customers. A digital supply chain process is under development through which it would provide a transparent dashboard where the customers would place the order and get updates of the progress happening in house production.
The company is also aiming to be among the top three manufacturers of each product that it produces and is continually looking to expand its product portfolio in sync with the requirements of its clients.
