UPNEDA & TNC INDIA SIGNED MOU TO EXPEDITE THE UTILITY-SCALE SOLAR PROJECT IN UTTAR PRADESHAMemorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in Lucknow by the Uttar Pradesh New & Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) and The Nature Conservancy (TNC) India to pursue targeted interventions aimed at accelerating utility-scale solar and wind energy development throughout the state. To meet India's goals for renewable energy while minimizing negative environmental effects, TNC India will implement a SiteRight tool that has been specifically tailored for Uttar Pradesh."The state has committed to achieving 14,000 MW of utility-scale solar projects by 2027, and identifying land parcels for these utility-scale solar projects considering social and environmental factors is critical to achieving renewable energy targets of the state in a time-bound manner", said Anupam Shukla, Director UPNEDA and Special Secretary, Energy Department, Govt of Uttar Pradesh. He added that this collaboration's primary goal is to promote socially and environmentally responsible development of renewable energy projects across Uttar Pradesh, including estimating potential opportunities for floating solar and developing science-based sustainable business models for promoting decentralized solar projects in the state.
