8OCTOBER, 2024THDCIL, a state-owned organization, has partnered with the Rajasthan government to develop 1,600 MW pumped storage projects at a cost of Rs 8,800 crore. THDC India Ltd (THDCIL) announced that the agreement is centered on building two 800 MW pumped storage projects (PSPs) at Bisanpura in Bundi and Rampura Tonk for development.A total investment of Rs 8,800 crore will be needed to achieve a capacity of 1,600 MW for PSPs, The CMD of THDCIL, R K Vishnoi mentioned.He stated, "The Bisanpura PSP will source water from the Gudha Dam, while the Rampura PSP will utilize water from the existing Bisalpur reservoir. This strategic approach ensures a reliable supply while minimizing environmental impact, allowing both projects to contribute significantly to sustainable energy solutions through efficient energy storage, thereby enhancing grid stability."THDCIL Director (Technical) Bhupender Gupta and Ajitabh Sharma, Principal Secretary, Industries & Commerce, Government of Rajasthan, signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the national capital, with Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma present. The company reported that the CM fully supported and worked together to ensure the successful completion and timely completion of the projects.THDC India Limited, a prominent profit-making public sector enterprise in the power sector, was titled Mini Ratna Category-I status by the Indian Government. Since being founded in 1988 as a hydro project company, THDCIL in Rishikesh has stretched its portfolio to contain nine projects (hydro, thermal, wind, and solar) with a whole capacity of 4,351 MW. There are currently 1,587 operational projects and 2,764 megawatts of projects under construction. Solex Energy Ltd aims to allocate more than Rs 8,000 crore for enhancing solar technology and expanding operations by 2030, establishing the company as a complete solar solutions provider. The company is looking into building a new cell manufacturing plant starting at a capacity of 2 GW, which can be expanded to 5 GW.Its module manufacturing capacity will increase to 15 GW from 1.5 GW. Solex plans to increase its staff to more than 25,000 people to accommodate the expansion of its capabilities."With the introduction of N-Type TOPcon Technology featuring Rectangular Cells, Solex Energy is raising the bar for efficiency and reliability," Chetan Shah, Chairman and Managing Director of Solex Energy said.An essential part of the strategy involves introducing the Tapi-R series of solar panels, utilizing N-Type TOPcon technology and a rectangular cell layout, to establish a higher benchmark for solar power production in India. The Tapi-R series features a cell dimension of 182.2 x 210 mm and includes 132 half-cut cells, providing a maximum power output of 625 WP with a module efficiency of 23.14 percent.It is well-suited for big solar projects in difficult areas like deserts and barren lands, offering an 80 percent bifacial rate and a -0.28 percent/°C power temperature coefficient. Additionally, the series comes with a 12-year product warranty and a 30-year linear performance guarantee, ensuring minimal annual degradation.It was stated that Solex Energy is dedicated to helping India reach its target of having 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based electricity capacity by 2030, alongside advancements in technology.
