8JULY 2024WAAREE ENERGIES TO SUPPLY 900 MW OF MODULES FOR SOLAR POWER PLANTINDIA INITIATES ANTI-DUMPING PROBE ON GLASS FIBRES FROM OVERSEASTOP STORIESWaaree Energies on Monday said it has received an agreement from Serentica Renewables India to supply 900 megawatts (MW) modules for a task situated at Fatehgarh in the Jaisalmer region of Rajasthan. According to the company, the project is anticipated to be one of the largest solar power plants constructed in India using Waaree modules, marking a significant milestone for both businesses.The delivery plan for these Top-Con bifacial modules is set from August 2024 to February 2025. These solar PV modules will be made, tested, packed, and shipped by Waaree Energies, who will make sure that the quality standards are met and the project is completed on time.Sunil Rathi, Director of Sales, Waaree Energies said, "Our elite series modules are expected to contribute to the efficiency, durability, and performance of this project. Moreover, our company has been deploying multiple projects in Rajasthan and Gujarat, thereby contributing to the clean energy shift in these states."Waaree Energies will regulate the far reaching producing, testing, packing, and transportation of these solar based PV modules, guaranteeing adherence to the quality guidelines and timely execution of the venture. According to the company, the implementation of this project is anticipated to increase the region's capacity for renewable energy, reduce carbon emissions, and promote environmental sustainability. India has initiated an anti-dumping probe into the import of glass fibre from China, Thailand, Bahrain following a complaint by a domestic player. The duty is aimed at protecting the domestic industry from cheap imports. The commerce ministry's investigation arm Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) is probing the alleged dumping of glass fibres and its articles originating in or exported from these countries.Glass fibre or fibre glass is reinforced plastic that is strong, lightweight, flexible and can be moulded into many complex shapes. It has many industrial and domestic uses.Owens-Corning (India) has filed the application seeking initiation of an anti-dumping investigation on the imports. The applicant has alleged that material injury is being caused to the domestic industry due to the alleged dumped imports and has requested for the imposition of anti-dumping duties."On the basis of the duly substantiated written application submitted by the applicant and having reached satisfaction based on the prima facie evidence submitted by the applicant concerning the dumping of the product. The Authority, hereby, initiates an anti-dumping investigation," the DGTR has said in a notification.If it is established that the dumping has caused material injury to domestic players, the DGTR would recommend the imposition of anti-dumping duty on these imports. The finance ministry takes the final decision to impose duties.Anti-dumping probes are conducted by countries to determine whether domestic industries have been hurt because of a surge in cheap imports.
