With the country's focus on developing urban and industrial infrastructure, the consumption of aluminium has risen across various segments including construction, automobiles, packaging and electricals. Aluminium is light and strong and can be reused and recycled, which is why it is used in these industries. The construction industry has therefore come out as one of the most vital markets for aluminium products. Due to the government's focus on infrastructure development through programs such as Smart Cities Mission and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the demand for aluminium in construction products, doors and windows, roofings and structural sections has gone up considerably. Furthermore, it has been observed that the packaging industry has shifted towards aluminium because of its excellent barrier properties to preserve the shelf-life of foods and beverages. This trend is however further boosted by the increasing e-commerce industry that requires durable and environmentally friendly packaging. Indian aluminium industry is also witnessing technology improvement in manufacturing and increased investment in capacity addition by leading players. The growth of the recycling activities due to embracing of sustainable development and circular economy has also boosted the market. However, some problems persist; the raw material prices are subject to change and there is stiff completion from other materials. Nevertheless, the aluminium products market in India has good potential of growth in the future as there is internal demand for the products and some strategic plans exist to upgrade the production facilities.
